About Me
I am a numismatic artist. I have always been drawn to art. In school, I took every art class available (including music and drama). I also found that drafting, architectural design and engineering satisfied my need for artistic expression. Drafting and design gave me a more detailed, technical approach to my art. And my art gave me a more creative feel for my technical design work.
My art today is a merger of technical drafting practices and classical drawing techniques. Hour upon hour. Day upon day. Every coin is precisely recreated down to the finest details. Once the drawing is complete, it is scanned and imported into Photoshop where it is formatted into the final prints available on my site.

- Finished. This drawing was based on a couple different coins, but I used the JDG Trust example for the coloration.
These originals as well as others will be available for sale at the Worlds Fair of Money in August.

- Here is an excellent example of a capped die strike. This example was struck through a shifted/rotated cap. It was struck once, not multiple times as stated on the slab.

- Is this an error or PMD?
The answer is ERROR not PMD.
While most people identify this as PMD, this is actually an error. I will agree that, at first glance, it looks like PMD. But closer examination reveals it to be a struck through debris error. This is most commonly caused by contaminated press lubricants finding their way into the striking chamber. Is this an error or PMD? The answer is ERROR not PMD. - Robert.Julian At first glance, it looks like zinc rot. It's also hard to see a legitimate error appearing like this so asymmetrically on both sides (but looking at again, I can kinda see the impact of the major damage on each side reflected on the other). Plus the admitted reflex, thanks to just about every other "is this an error?" post on this and several other coin forums where it's painfully obvious PMD (as in "I found this in the parking lot, how much is it worth?"). I've never seen anything like this.[Robert.Julian] At first glance, it looks like zinc rot. When examining this coin, it is interesting to note that there are no breaks in the coper plating other than the typical tears found on many zinc plated cents...[Alpha2814] When examining this coin, it is interesting to note that there are no breaks in the coper plating other than the typical tears found on many zinc plated cents...

Bob Julian, I have several (and Mark Alexander Longas has several more from the same lot) that came from a sealed ballistic bag of the type sent to coin wrapping companies like Loomis and Brinks. I was just looking at them yesterday. That was in 1985 (1985-D cents I think) and I sent a couple in to the Mint and two for grading. All stated it was after leaving the mint damage. Kind of a bummer because I know they are errors, but I also knew it'd be tough to get them recognized. I'll see if I can photo them next time I run into them. Mark Alexander Longas got any pics? Do you think Bob's coin might be related? I can't remember the surfaces that well except one was kind of olive green with an attractive sheen with a touch of iridescence. Here is another comment from the same group... - For those who don't know, I collect Lincoln cents. I have done so for quite a while and have spent a lot of time researching the series. Here is a little video I put together showing the different dies used from 59 through 08. If you find this kind of thing interesting, there are similar videos on my channel showing different obverse and reverse die details over the years.
Enjoy...

I have a few of these in my collection. So, I thought I would post one of my progressions. These were all struck from the same die cap...

- I took these picks with my Canon camera setup. I do not alter the images in any way. Many will "oversaturate" or "enhance" the images in an attempt to make the coin appear more appealing. I try to capture the coin as "naturally" as possible. As true a representation as I can make it.
Also, I publish the pics at high resolution. If you zoom in you will see all the very fine details present...I took these picks with my Canon camera setup. I do not alter the images in any way.
