Im new to the group and taking the grading test. I seem to have little issues with US circulated coins. But the coins never ment for circulation with MS 67 68 69 provides little value to me. Why are these coins needing official grading other than $$ ? Talk about "splitting hairs" Im also lacking in grading modern pocket change. Ha

Suggest you not show coins with toning - it is too hard to assess marks and luster

It would be extremely helpful if when the user misses by more than 2 grade points that the program generates a message explaining why the guessed grade was wrong

VAM 9 First Morgan dollars struck. These get very tough to get above XF.

there's plenty even worse in fs holders, but it seems standards on these alternate between 8 easy years and 8 tight years, so it just depends on when it was graded. I wouldn't crack it out right now. Guess the grade would be a bit easier if we also knew when the coin was graded.

Some of the grades of coins in the GTG have my head spinning.

I know the FS standard is different for the 1938 nickels, but how is this 38 D a FS designated coin?

I gotta say, this is certainly more more brown than that 1906 and it got a RB

Remember grading is subjective … like some of coins especially the Morgan few of them look to me MS63 come up wrong actually graded AU53 ! I didn’t see any high mark rubbing hard to detect looking at flat picture of coin laying flat with light on it

This is a silly game. I do not work for any grading companies so why is there a 45 sec time limit? If you want to help peeps grade coins then an accurate analysis of WHY the coin grades as such would be WAY more helpful. Doesn't accuracy of grading override some mandatory time limit? Most peeps who collect, in my opinion, struggle with grading, including myself. A truly helpful grading tool would be wonderful, but this isn't it. Just my opinion

We can't recreate the issue Gumby. i.e. we're able to submit correct guesses for this coin. One thing that may have led to this is if proof was selected when you were trying to set the suffix as FB is not an option for proof (only business). I realize you submitted business strike but perhaps you had proof selected prior to submitting.

We're looking into this - Jack or Todd will post back here about it.

Timed out at least a dozen times… photos sometimes take longer or do not show at all…still having fun and doing great

Its a Samsung phone. All of the pics don't load this slowly, but most take 6 or 7 seconds off my time.

What type of device/tablet are you using? Might have asked that before.

The scoring "fix" knocked me down from 40th to 58th. Oops. I guess I need to step it up and try to make the top 50 again. I think it gets pretty hard to move up though.

The average points and accuracy are simple averages based on number of coins graded and the points awarded for each guess. You can sort by these fields in the leaderboard if you prefer them over the Rank. As mentioned in the How to Play instructions the rank is based on your accuracy but also influenced by the total number of coins graded. This is done because the more you guess the more representative the accuracy is (i.e. someone with 1000 guesses is showing very good consistency vs someone with 50 guesses). At the same time we don't want it to be too weighted by number of guesses because people will be able to climb the leaderboard just by guessing more. We've made a few tweaks to the calculation along the way to find the right balance and just fixed a bug that was raised by others.

I think you mean times the accuracy percentage, ie higher percentage will make for a higher score. But this is exactly what the total points already represents. It's just that the mystery is in how the rank is determined.

There may be a scratch on the holder over the bands making the center seem weak. I see "slab perturbations" elsewhere in that picture.

Only the center horizontal bands are examined for this designation. In my book, this is close but no. I have seen much worse receive the designation though.

I'm seeing full separation across the bands.

If you think that is bad you should see some of the FB labeled clad Roosies that pretty much don't exist in a true full band state (69-p, 74-p, 78-p etc). Not many clad coins yet on the Guess the grade. Just a few Ikes and Kennedys.

Yikes, must have been a long day grading and just fatigue missed that.

Maybe it wasn't there when graded. The guy sealing the slab took a bite of it.

Rim damage is something I really, really have trouble overlooking. bumps, dings, etc. all are a hard stop/no go, for my own collection.

IMHO This is pretty egregious and should never straight grade in my eyes.

Some of that scuffing is on the slab and the frost on the cheek is super shallow, it may look more frosty in hand.

Not saying it is a 67, just observation, with super super clean fields, no major dings etc.....would make a super nice 66 if it's not a 67.

I agree with you on this one, not one I would call a 67. I think often an image will highlight hits less prominent in hand but this one has a couple strikes against it.
