  • A Major Shift in My Studio Practice

For years, I’ve worked with the best tools available to independent artists—refining every detail, pushing the limits of high-end home studio equipment, and producing prints I’m proud to stand behind.

But now, I’m stepping into a new chapter.

I am upgrading to full commercial-grade printing systems—the kind used by top-tier galleries and museum ateliers. This shift allows me to work with the finest archival papers in the world, print with pigment inks designed for true permanence, and finish each piece with hand-deckled edges and presentation methods that reflect the highest standards in the art world.

My goal isn’t just to improve quality—it’s to align my process with the kind of care and reverence that defined the great masters. Every decision, every material, every edge is chosen with intention. I want the work to feel timeless, to carry weight, and to be built for legacy.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported me along the way. This evolution is about honoring the craft—and giving the work the platform it deserves.

    More soon.

    —Bob

  • Here is a side-by-side look at the reverse drawings of the 1882 Shield Earring pattern: the original monochrome master drawing alongside the completed full-color rendering. The color treatment is deliberately subtle, but it adds a quiet depth and dimensionality that really enhances the overall impact. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Next up: the obverse. I’ll be diving into that this week and expect to have it wrapped by the weekend. Stay tuned!

  • Just finished the monochrome Master drawings of an extraordinary coin: the 1882 Morgan quarter dollar pattern, Judd-1689.
This one’s a Deep Cameo PR67—the finest known—and fewer than ten exist.
Liberty wears a Union shield earring, and the design never made it to circulation.
It’s bold, symbolic, and historically rich.
An honor to draw something this rare and meaningful.

The original drawing and a limited run of museum-grade prints will be on display at the Rosemont show.
Collectors attending can see it up close—and take home a piece of numismatic history.

  • The PentaMint Collection — 1909‑O half Eagle
An Heirloom of Rarity, Rendered in Art

The 1909‑O half Eagle is more than a coin — it is the swan song of the New Orleans Mint, struck in the final year of its operation and forever enshrined as one of the most coveted rarities in American numismatics. With its limited mintage and storied provenance, it stands as a tangible link to a vanished chapter of U.S. minting history.

This portfolio entry captures that legacy in a masterwork of archival colored pencil, digitally refined for absolute fidelity, and printed on museum‑grade stock. Each 13×19 presentation is individually signed and numbered, ensuring its place as a scarce and enduring collectible. Accompanying each print is a narrative placard that blends meticulous historical research with the drama of the coin’s survival, inviting the viewer into its journey from mint to masterpiece.

The full‑size PentaMint portfolio will make its public debut at the Great American Coin & Collectible Show in Rosemont, where collectors will have the rare opportunity to experience these works at their true scale. Upon completion of the commission, all six coins will be united in an exclusive, hand‑bound 12×24 leather coffee table volume — a strictly limited edition reserved for discerning collectors and institutions, destined to command pride of place in any world‑class collection.

  • Here is my latest commission. This is one of the drawings I am creating for the PentaMint Collection. It is a collection of gold and silver coins from 5 former mints. So far I have completed a 1854-D 3 dollar Indian, a 1853-O Seated Liberty with arrows and rays, a 1909-O 5 dollar Indian and this wonderful 1870-CC Double Eagle.

I have started work on his 1837-42 5 dollar Bechtler. After that he has one more that he wants me to complete from the Charlotte mint.

His package includes the original artwork, 8 formatted prints of each in a binder with commentary on each coin and drawing in the package as well as a coversheet describing the entire collection and his collecting goals. And to top it off, 1 large format (24x36) HD ChromaLuxe Sublimation High-Gloss Metal Print of his favorite formatted prints (6 total)

He tells me he is going to hang the polished metal prints at his family estate. I am not sure where this is, but I would love to visit one day, if I could be so lucky.

  • I received the kindest message from one of my patrons, along with a photo of the framed drawings displayed in her husband's office. She said they’ve become “by far his favorite gift in 17.5 years”—which completely floored me.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I create. Seeing the artwork thoughtfully framed and knowing it holds personal meaning for someone... it’s incredibly rewarding.

Thank you for sharing this, and for giving my work a place in your world.

  • Here is a flattering note sent me by one of my patrons...

A Stunning Presentation for My Collection

I’ve been working with Robert “Bob” Jullian since late 2024, and the experience has been exceptional from the very beginning. He’s professional, highly responsive, and brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to every project. To date, Bob has created four pieces for my coin collection—each one beautifully executed and carefully considered.

Most recently, he produced a print using the ChromaLuxe HD metal process, and the result was nothing short of stunning. The colors are vibrant, the detail razor-sharp, and the finish has real depth and presence. This isn’t just a surface print—the image is infused into the metal itself, giving it a refined, durable quality that perfectly complements the visual richness of the collection.

Perhaps most meaningful, Bob’s work helps me explain the collection to the vast majority of my friends who aren’t coin collectors. His artwork tells the story in a way that’s instantly engaging and accessible.

I fully intend to have more pieces created. The current work is already a centerpiece I’m proud to display as part of The Pentamint Collection, which highlights 19th-century U.S. and private mint silver and gold coinage.

  • "I recently finalized the formatting of my latest drawings into a series of prints, dedicating considerable time and effort to the process. These pieces represent my closest approach to photorealism thus far. However, I find myself questioning whether this is the direction I should pursue. At times, I feel drawn toward a more expressive, artistic style rather than strict photorealism. To explore this further, I plan to reinterpret one of my completed drawings in a more artistic manner and seek feedback on the results."
