- Who doesn't love a good shipwreck coin?? Some of my personal favorites are those found off the Capitana and Maravillas wrecks with these transitional strikes. - By far the smallest escudo I have ever owned or seen! This little 1 escudo was struck during the 1715 Fleet shipwrecks period we often see recovered on the wreck sites. With a nearly complete shield on the obverse and a perfect cross on the reverse, it has been a highlight of my personal collection. And graded NGC MS 65... just cant beat it!By far the smallest escudo I have ever owned or seen! - Finally back from grading is this stunning Seville minted 4 Escudos graded #NGC MS 62! With only 7 examples of this coin known, and this piece coming in tied for 2nd finest, its an insane add to my personal collection. Fun fact: this die variety was only ever used for the 4 and 8 escudos denominations for a short window of time at the Seville mint! Finally back from grading is this stunning Seville minted 4 Escudos graded #NGC MS 62! - A recent pickup on my travels to France was this mind blowing 8 reales!! Not only does this gorgeous cob have nearly perfect surfaces, and is finest known at AU 58, but it also has a very interesting die error! If you notice, the usual "VIII" for 8 reales is actually showing "VII" for a 7 reales. Someone must have been drinking a bit too much the night before!
Finest known at #ngccoins and an absolute treasure of a coin. Enjoy!
