- I've been researching more about errors lately, but unfortunately I think this is just a vice job. Probably not a mint error, based on the fact it's two minted coins stuck together and not a single planchet, but rather someone that got curious and decided to fuse two coins together. It's certainly an eye-catching and interesting piece, though! No real numismatic value, but I'd hold on to it!I've been researching more about errors lately, but unfortunately I think this is just a vice job. - My understanding is if the date is gone, the value is gone. You could claim it is a 1915 prototype, who could argue? My understanding is if the date is gone, the value is gone. You could claim it is a 1915 prototype, who could argue? 😆
- JFVanBurenIII A friend of mine has one of the greatest lowball Morgan sets I've ever seen in an album. In the 93 S slot, its the lowest of the lowballs. Its COMPLETELY worn to were its barely identifiable as a Morgan. So I said Wow, you got the 93 S! But wait, how do you know this is a 93 S? He said "Prove to me its not" and I just lost it laughing lol That's a great set tho. Not a single coin better than a F-2![JFVanBurenIII] A friend of mine has one of the greatest lowball Morgan sets I've ever seen in an album. In the 93 S slot, its the lowest of the lowballs. - Todds The SLQ (Standing Liberty Quarter) mintage started late 1916 and they only made about 50k of them, one of the lowest (maybe the lowest) mintage of any 20th century coin for mass production. The mint went on with production of 1917 quarters in Philly, Denver, and San Fran but because of some public outrage about Lib's breast being exposed, she was covered up with some chain mail. Also, 3 stars were added under the eagle on the reverse for this Type 2 coin. When you have a missing date, you can always confirm Type 1 or Type 2 by the stars on the reverse under the eagle. Generally, after 1924, you won't have a worn date because they recessed the date after that year. If you have a type 1 and its dateless, its likely a 1917 and has very little value because of its condition. Most dateless SLQ values are based solely on silver weight. However, if you have a type 1 dateless SLQ and you can positively identify it as a 1916, the coin is likely worth thousands. This would be tough (near impossible for most of us) to do because most die markings are also worn off at that point but you know what they always say - where there's a will, and a boob is out, there's a way![Todds] The SLQ (Standing Liberty Quarter) mintage started late 1916 and they only made about 50k of them, one of the lowest (maybe the lowest) mintage of any 20th century coin for mass production. - Well, the good news is you are correct about it being a type 2. The bad news is, you are correct about it being a type 2. No such thing as a type 2 1916. It could be any date from 1917 thru 1924.Well, the good news is you are correct about it being a type 2. The bad news is, you are correct about it being a type 2. No such thing as a type 2 1916. - Hi, I'm new here! And newly inspired to discover and share treasures! I'm hoping to find help to identify some errors and varieties. I think I have a few, but not sure. Is this a good place to ask?2 Comments 0 Shares 985 ViewsCommenting is disabled.
- If it questions about coins by all means, glad to help. I know the others would too. If it’s what’s this coin worth? Check PCGS, NGC, CACG price guides. Also eBay sold prices, you can do raw coins on eBay too. Learn about the gray sheet and red book. Welcome!!If it questions about coins by all means, glad to help. I know the others would too. - Best place to ask is on the U.S. Coin Discussion [MyCollect™ Official] group. Many people are asking about error they seem to find via the internet and most or not error or not worth much. - Guess I missed this group. I procured my first graded Morgan slab in Aug. 2023, finished my set April or so of this year. I have been a custom pool cue dealer since 94. I posted the first set of photos for pool cues off an AOL provided page back when it was dial up. My site was one of the first legitimate custom cue sites on the internet. I have a business partnership that has the same length of time, with someone I consider my best friend. I live by three words, loyalty, honesty and integrity. I dabbled with guitars, but they are too much work lol and take too much room, and I suck at playing.Guess I missed this group.
