About Me
I started Argenteus only recently, after decades of collecting. The focus now is SLQs and Morgans, although I have a little of a lot of stuff. I work coin shows mostly, but also sell on the website and some on ebay.

- Central States wrap-up: The Central States show is over. How was it? To mangle the famous Latin quote: veni, vidi, vendidi [I came, I saw, I sold]. I grade my show a solid A. Although the crowds felt smaller than last year, this was offset by the fact that for me the tire-kicker-to-buyer ratio was the lowest I've had this year. Oddly, through Friday, I would have graded the show a B+, but the buyers flooded out on Saturday (rare). The big sellers for me were SLQs and ancient coins. Dollars hardly sold (weird) and a full case of bullion was almost completely ignored. So, I'm very pleased with the show and was quite impressed with the great job the organizers did. - Interesting update! I put 9 SLQ’s in auction and all sold but one. Price realized was lower than it should have been on a couple (18/7 S and 18D) so overall I lost money but the others did okay. Please keep your show updates coming. I appreciate them.Interesting update! I put 9 SLQ’s in auction and all sold but one. - ANA National Money Show Report: So the show ended just a few hours ago here in Colorado Springs. Although snow storms dampened attendance, I still had a great show thanks to a few hearty collectors who braved the weather and bought several "whale" coins from me. Highlight: this morning a 13 yo boy and his mom stopped by the table to look at my Athenian owls. He's quite a knowledgeable ancient coin collector and we talked full crests and the evolution of the owls for the best part of an hour. Then, after huddling with his mom to negotiate a deal to lend him some money, we were able to agree on a nice price for a great owl. He walked away pretty darn excited.ANA National Money Show Report: So the show ended just a few hours ago here in Colorado Springs. - Argenteus will be at the ANA National Money Show in Colorado Springs next Thurs-Sat (March 14-16). Very excited about it. Should be an awesome experience. Please stop by table 503 and say hello. - I attended the Virginia Beach Coin Show this past weekend. It's a modest size show and my expectations were commensurately modest. But, it turned out to be a stellar show. Crowds were strong and so were sales. Ancient coins were very popular as was, to my mild surprise, bullion. Anyway, hats off to the Tidewater Coin Club for sponsoring the show. They did an exceptional job organizing, promoting, and running it.I attended the Virginia Beach Coin Show this past weekend. It's a modest size show and my expectations were commensurately modest. - PAN coin show update. The PAN show powers that be reached out to dealers to let them know that this May's show (May 16-18) will be the last at the Monroeville venue (it's closing its doors). The next show in the fall will be held at the big convention center in downtown Pittsburgh (where the ANA was held last August). At this point, it sounds like the bourse fees won't increase all that much (whew). So, goodbye Monroeville, and honestly, I'm not going to miss you all that much.PAN coin show update.
