I saw this coin posted on Facebook. I am curious for people's thoughts on giving designations to non-MS coins. I think I have one AU58PL coin. NGC and ANACS seem to do these and PCGS has said theirs were mistakes. On the PL/DMPL side more seem to be tough dates while many 1880-S could be AU58PL, never seen one but seen several 1889-O. As a collector would you pick up a AU55FBL or AU55FB? Is there a line at MS for the suffix or is a FBL a FBL and a DMPL a DMPL, no matter the underlying grade?
Pic just for attention.

So yeah, i think an AU -- esp 58, but also lower -- may still support designations such as these, incl potentially PL.
Also, I think color designations on circ copper/bronze gets dropped, but perhaps it shouldn't, or at least in some cases the remaining red lustre should be noted somehow.
