- One is all it takes :) The Red Book US Gold Dollar book is a great one for learning. I found the historical year by year info interesting, too. Wish the red book people would make a bigger overall book of just the historical bits from their books without the coin details. - As a longtime small dealer, I have bought and sold maybe a dozen different dates over the years, mostly as type acquisitions, and currently have two pieces in stock, an 1856 Slanted 5 MS63 PCGS CAC, and an 1873 Open 3 MS62+ PCGS CAC.
