About Me
Hi! I have been involved in numismatics from a very young age, poring over Whitman albums, along with Red Books, passed down from my grandfather at around the age of 7. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work professionally in the business—first during college at my local coin shop, and then going on to work at Classical Numismatic Group, Atlas Numismatics, Heritage Auctions, Numismatik Naumann, and now at Stack’s Bowers Galleries, where I am the lead cataloger in the world & ancient coinage department, specializing in cataloging and researching some of the rarest and most valuable non-American-related coins available in the market. I also maintain my own website and side business, Numismagram, where I offer exceptional art and historical medals and tokens from America as well as the rest of the world, with an eye toward quality as well as those which tell an interesting and compelling story. Medals, I feel, are an underappreciated aspect of the greater world of numismatics, and they represent an area which has the potential for tremendous growth given all that they have to offer.

Starting with the earliest, we have this iconic type—an early mid-17th century aftercast of the classic Andrea Doria rendition by Leone Leoni...0 Comments 0 Shares 139 Views

- SHOUTOUT.WIX.COMArchitectural Medals! Numismagram Newsletter #120 (IV/2024)It’s time for another thematic upload—this time focusing upon, for the most part, the architectural mastery of Jacques Wiener. Before he began his massive series of architectural medals that highlighted famous edifices across Europe (and produced in a 59mm format), he designed a series of 10 slightly smaller medals (50mm) that focused solely upon various churches from his native Kingdom of Belgium. These medals featured the overall style that he would later employ again, with intricate exterior views on the obverse, and seemingly even more intricate interior views on the reverse. Around this time, other engravers began pushing the limits of the medal, with highly refined architectural renderings being produced by Hart in Belgium, Davis in England, Bianchi in Italy, and Wilkens in Germany. While preparing this upload, we happened to visit a market that had some interesting sculpted-like figures adorning the exterior...0 Comments 0 Shares 195 Views

Numismagram Newsletter #118 (III/2024)Among ancient coin enthusiasts as well as classicists, it’s everyone’s favorite day filled with Caesar jokes and fake Eid Mar denarius pics. Here, we like to celebrate the somewhat haunting day with a round of spooky, macabre, or otherwise offbeat aspects in the world of tokens and medals. As such, the topic of skulls and skeletons tends to be one of the most frequent, and today’s upload is no different. To start off, since ancient coins were mentioned, here is a large bronze medal from the Paris mint from 1905...0 Comments 0 Shares 214 Views

- UNITED STATES & GERMANY. Zeppelin silver Medal. Issued 1924. Commemorating the transatlantic flight of the ZR-3/LZ-127. By Karl Goetz. PCGS SP-65. Incredibly vibrant and prooflike, with deep peripheral rings of iridescent toning. Undoubtedly one of the most attractive and eye-catching examples of the type extant. Tied with two others for the top spot in the PCGS census for the lettered edge type, with just three otheres at the same level (and with none finer there) for the plain edge version.
