eBay is acquiring Goldin Auctions. I wonder if this means eBay will have to adhere to the same ethics as auction houses now with this acquisition? Will they guarantee that items are genuine? Will they guarantee that coins they sell are not counterfeits? eBay - would love to hear from you.

It's interesting that Steve cohen bought vault from ebay, and sold them the auction piece, I wouldn't be surprised if he creates some kind of financial product like an etf or collateralized institutional product that funds can get exposure to the collectable market. You can't do this without something secure and someone who can vouch for it. Steve cohen can now do both. Pretty big development

  cdmcollector I've been thinking about this a lot in the past couple years because of the company Masterpiece becoming so big. They sell shares of high end art. The same thing can definitely be done with antique cars (Packards, Duesenbergs, Bugattis, etc), real estate, and of course, high end coins/currency. Much less volatile than stocks and could certainly be a nice addition to a financial portfolio.

  adamdsmith this scheme has been used in coins and stamps already. The stamp company that had bought Baldwin's Auctions tried it with a rare stamp. It completely failed for them.
