- What’s up with the rim on this coin?
I passed on this coin for one with the early reverse die, but it overall looks like a great coin. It just looks like the rim is sanded down on the obverse.
Does this look like a strike issue or PMD? I’m not sure I’ve seen a rim that looks like this…

- Just looks weak in that area as it is the same on the reverse above states. While I dont believe the case here, look up the blakesly effect. It is something good to learn. - ToddPollock Thank you![ToddPollock] Thank you!
- ToddPollock So in this case, it’s more of a weak strike there than anything like a cud or clipped blank. Super helpful. I was thrown off by how it almost looks scraped in the photos.
I might pick this up just so I can look at it under magnification.[ToddPollock] So in this case, it’s more of a weak strike there than anything like a cud or clipped blank. Super helpful. - ToddPollock Well, I just pulled the trigger on this one (as well as a few others) so we’ll see how it looks when it shows up. My circulated set is about to be complete and get some upgrades as well, so stay tuned![ToddPollock] Well, I just pulled the trigger on this one (as well as a few others) so we’ll see how it looks when it shows up. - MeantToBeSpent Thanks! Ultimately I intend to upgrade this collection to be 100% CACG. I’ve already got some upgrades on the way, and I intend to cross a few of these as well. I’ll be chipping away at this for a long time.[MeantToBeSpent] Thanks! Ultimately I intend to upgrade this collection to be 100% CACG. - For Sale: $575
Coin is an absolute blazer with luster and eye appeal more appropriate to a higher grade than the 66 on the holder. Flashy, bright, white and sure to impress as the perfect higher-end type coin. For Sale: $575 Coin is an absolute blazer with luster and eye appeal more appropriate to a higher grade than the 66 on the holder. Experimenting with different LED settings, tighter aperture, this one is too noisy imho, but it’s such a good looking coin I didn’t want to get it back out to re shoot.
