- bretsanThis is the coin after restoration. The grease stain or PVC was removed entirely. I’m pretty happy with the results but with the toning could have been maintained. This is the coin after restoration. The grease stain or PVC was removed entirely. - WinestevenRyanG Whenever PCGS restores a coin, 100% of the time they require using a new cert number, since the appearance has changed. I tried one time asking for an exception. No dice! - EasternIowaBrianif they remove the spot wouldn't it have to come back a 63? Your loses should be small. then maybe a cac sticker. they hate pvc.if they remove the spot wouldn't it have to come back a 63? Your loses should be small. then maybe a cac sticker. they hate pvc.

- bretsanToddPollock I have two coins at PCGS for restoration. When I submitted them at the Central States show, they told me they’ll come back at a minimum of the same grade but could possibly be upgraded. It’s been over two months now and I’m hoping for results sometime soon :)[ToddPollock] I have two coins at PCGS for restoration. - bretsanThanks Todd, I’ll give it a try. I really like this coin and it might upgrade if the grease mark can be removed. Thanks Todd, I’ll give it a try. I really like this coin and it might upgrade if the grease mark can be removed.
- RyanGbretsan. Heres my conservative, risk adverse opinion... The coin looks like it has a great strike and luster as is. There may be some factors that prevent a 64 tho. Id think it would be best to buy a 64 rather than risk sending back to PCGS.[bretsan]. Heres my conservative, risk adverse opinion... The coin looks like it has a great strike and luster as is. - Picked up an 1890 CC and an 1878 S today. First time I’ve bought Morgans that haven’t been graded so a bit nervous about their authenticity but they look right and I did get them from a coin dealer. If they are genuine do you think they are worth sending away for grading?Picked up an 1890 CC and an 1878 S today. - Best way to authenticate a coin is look at the die pairing. In this case, figure out what VAM you have. As a rule of thumb, if you can identify the VAM, it's legit.Best way to authenticate a coin is look at the die pairing. In this case, figure out what VAM you have. - I love the toning on the obverse. Even if the grey is terminal it’s a nice contrast to the other colors.I love the toning on the obverse. Even if the grey is terminal it’s a nice contrast to the other colors.
- MS64? As usual for that coin, weak strike. But yes, the toning looks great. Great coin.MS64? As usual for that coin, weak strike. But yes, the toning looks great. Great coin.
