This remarkable 1880 $20 Silver Certificate Fr. 311 showcases Commodore Stephen Decatur, a celebrated Navy hero known for his courageous raids during the conflicts against Barbary pirates along the northern coast of Africa in the 1800s. Decatur was also the youngest man to be promoted to captain at the time. This striking example sold in our US Currency Sale 3, was sold for a total of $14,950 earlier this month.
