You don't many old school Iowa Ad Notes so this was a welcome addition to my collection. Otto Gottlieb Berner was a Swiss born jeweler who opened his shop in Le Mars around 1890. He later moved his shop to Nevada ca.1910. His findagrave has a detailed account of his life.

I really enjoy these pieces as they all are pretty scarce compared to other types of notes - even some Nationals and Obsoletes from Iowa. I believe this is the 11th note from Odebolt in the census and was fresh from the weeds a few months ago. Now I am fairly new to these, but most of them were bought as souvenirs close to or on the last day of issue: June 30, 1894 like this piece.A new addition to the collection is this Postal Note from Odebolt, Iowa. - Half of the 4 note depression scrip set from The Des Moines Clearing House. I picked these up on eBay cheap one morning. They came in a basic envelope with a stamp and penny mylars. I'm glad they survived as well as they did!
Despite a lot of Iowa DS priced as commons in the Mitchell & Shafer book, you don't see it offered often (aside from the ultra-common Clarinda pieces). In fact, I have never found DS at local Iowa shows.
