MyCollect Sets is our Set Registry to help organize your collections and provide friendly competition with other members. There are Set Definitions for a broad variety of classic U.S. coins, modern U.S. coins, world coins, and more. We're continuously expanding the available definitions which is largly driven by member requests and welcome feedback on sets you would like added.

Another reason to use MyCollect Sets is we support all major grading companies: PCGS, NGC, CACG, ANACS, and ICG. Collect and arrange coins into sets regardless of which grading company certified the coins. We also support raw coins in sets because we recognize many collectors have a mix of certified and uncertified coins.

Key Concepts

  • Set Definitions: These define a collection of items and the eligible coins that can be allocated to the set. See the Set Definition section below for more details.
  • Browse Sets: Provides a way to browse through the library of Set Definitions, this is arranged into categories such as "Silver Dollars" > "Peace Dollars - Main Sets". From here you can view the leaderboard for specific set definitions, view the details about the definition, and start your own set.
  • My Sets: Manage your sets using My Sets: add, remove, retire, edit, and auto-create sets based on your inventory.
  • My Inventory: In order to allocate coins to a set they must first be added to your inventory. Refer to our How To Guides for more information.
  • Leaderboard: The main leaderboard for MyCollect Sets which provides a quick view at the top sets for the most popular set definitions, along with Top Collectors, highlighting recent member sets, and recent changes to the Set Definitions.
Each set definition also has it's own leaderboards: The "Current Leaderboard" which is comprised of active sets only, and the "All Time Leaderboard" which includes retired sets.
  • Ranking & Points: Sets have a total score based on the points for each allocated coin, this is used to determine the overall ranking against other sets of the same set definition. See the Ranking section for more details.

Set Definitions

MyCollect offers many types of Set Definitions to appeal to different collecting goals:

  • Showcase & Custom Sets
  • Date Sets
  • Basic Sets
  • Specialty Sets
  • Mint Sets
  • Type Sets
  • CAC Only Sets: These are variations on the other set types that restrict coins to PCGS and NGC certified with CAC Green or Gold stickers. CAC graded coins (CACG) are not eligible for these sets as they are meant for CAC stickered coins only.
  • One-Fifty Eight & One-Sixty Four Sets: Another variation on the other set types which limit allocated coins to either AU-58+ for One-Fifty Eight Sets, and up to MS/PR/SP-64+ for One-Sixty Four Sets.
  • Low Ball Sets: With Low Ball Sets you want the lowest graded coins as scoring is inverted and these receive the highest score. Only coins below mint-state are permitted (i.e. AU-58 and below) and only clean graded coins, no Details or Mint Errors.

Ranking

Sets are ranked on their total points, which is a sum of points awarded to each allocated coin in the set. To be eligible for the Current Leaderboard the set must be "Public", and also have the "Allow Raw" option set off - which are the default settings for new sets. Sets that are not eligible will still receive a virtual ranking so you can see how they would rank if they were eligible.

To calculate the points awarded to each allocated coin:

  1. Start with the base points determined by the coin grade. This is not a linear function, instead higher grades have much higher base points over a lower grade to represent the rarity.
  2. Multiply by a Grading Service weighting. There are different weightings for PCGS, CACG, NGC/NGCX, ANACS, and ICG. For PCGS and NGC there are variations for coins with CAC Green or CAC Gold stickers. Details coins have a separate weighting irrespective of the grading service. This weighting is to represent the relative value placed on coins in the marketplace, it is a simple fact that some coins afford a higher premium over others solely based on who graded it and whether it has a CAC sticker.
  3. Multiply by the Item weight defined in the Set Definition. This is used to represent the comparative difficulty of filling this item compared to other items in the set.
  4. Multiply by any optional suffix bonus weights if applicable.

Retiring or Removing Sets

If a set is no longer needed or wanted then the options are to either remove it or retire it. For convience when doing this you can optionally mark all the coins within the set as "Sold" - but the default is to leave coins as-is as they may be allocted to other sets too.

Whether to retire or remove a set depends on the situation. Retiring a set allows it to remain visible in the system and on the All Time Leaderboard so is a good option for those amazing sets that ranked highly. You can also remove a retired set later if you so choose. Retiring a set will not free up allocated coins if the coins are still active, i.e. you cannot retire a set, create a new set of the same type, and allocate the same coins.

Note: empty sets cannot be retired and will get removed instead. Also, empty sets with no changes for over 30 days will be removed automatically by the system.
