Hi folks,
I found this 1940-S Wheatie in a partial collection I just purchased, and it stood out to me because of it's glossy finish.

It doesn't look like a matte or mirror proof, nor did San-Fran make proofs. Is this just an exceptionally well-struk coin? Or has it possibly been dipped in some way? Or is this normal on some higher-grade Wheaties?

As always any thoughts are appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Thank you both for the input, I figured it wasn't really anything. It just stood out to me, then again I haven't handled many high grade 30s/40s Wheaties yet.

The S mint Lincolns from the 30s and 40s had super nice flashy luster (especially coins like the 38-S, 39-S, 40-S, 41-S), much like the flashy luster of an 1880-S or 81-S Morgan. So, it's normal for a coin like this, and hasn't been dipped. Hope that helps!

It's a common 1940-S Lincoln Cent with nice original mint luster. Worth about a dollar.
