At my LCS we tested if you can scan coins through packages with those coin apps and you can it pulls up the exact coin but if you wrap the coins in aluminum foil first then package them it will not scan no coin will come up so the industry needs to use a foil package or wrap to prevent this.

  JDRosellePark raws prob should be too, obv inside flip or envelope first. I think the package scanners 'see' through, and can detect metal or other objects.

Someone in scanning prob sees it, notifies buddy in sorting, the sorter gashes open package and pulls it out, hides it. Or something like this.

I also had some packs just disappear.

I recall hearing of a raid at one post office, and they found dozens of iphones and other big ticket items stashed, esp in bathroom. It's possible someone in janitorial collects it all, smuggles out w trash.

  This was in my city, then miraculously travelled back to Ann Arbor in an hour (easily a 4 hr drive). Neither i or sender requested it held at Ann Arbor post office, that was BS. It was also not at the post office. It vanished.

  SilverAge3 I got a package last week looks like somebody had ripped it open pulled out the contents and stuffed them back in. Fortunately, they were just heavy pieces of metal tubing with rubber bushings so they didn’t like what they found.

Sorry to hear this! There is no doubt a theft ring within USPS. It's been going on for years and getting worse.
