Leaving registry points alone, all the complaining I see in the FB groups, and with people I talk shop with, is the stringent grading of CACG grading. I am in favor of tighter grading because I tried collecting currency and the grading companies that do that are all trained by the firm Keller, Charles and Wonder. Coins are so much smaller, that I have never noticed a real difference. The more experienced I get at looking at coins, then yes, there are definite nuances and I can see why tighter control is needed. Also factor in that grading companies have changed hands, probably changed corporate philosophies, and grading was probably affected at various points over a 40 year span. Sometimes the industry needs a kick in the ass and maybe this is that. Is the next frontier scanning your coin or slab and getting an AI grade?
