- Class 2 Eisenhower Japan Appreciation Medal. Rarest of the Class 2 medals with a known surviving population of 86 for collectors. My research of National Archive Records Administration (NARA) files states that the original mintage was 500. Due to riots in Japan during Ike's Far East Trip, he cancelled his visit. The 86 medals were gifted to individuals preparing for his visit. 410 specimens were returned to the US Treasury and destroyed. 4 specimens are in the possession of the NARA.Class 2 Eisenhower Japan Appreciation Medal.
