1796 Capped Bust Right No Stars Quarter Eagle | CoinWeek
The 1796 Draped Bust $10 gold eagle with a small eagle reverse is a rare, early American coin with a mintage of only 4,146. Featuring 13 stars, this coin (KM#21) is highly prized by collectors, with only about 150 known to survive
The fact is, the US Mint, even in the early days, minted good quality coins. The quality of the strike on your coin (possibly not struck but cast) is extremely poor. We can all see, based on experience and other examples of what this coin is trying to be, that it's a counterfeit meant to fool people without experience.
This is the greatest hobby in the world because even when you dump your paycheck into your collection, you're possibly richer than before you started. Keep coming back with some other examplea and try to only buy from dealers that have a good reputation and fair prices.
We all want to see you succeed so please don't be disappointed in this coin. We've all acquired fakes before but we move on and get back to it. Enjoy the journey my friend!
