Only four examples of this pattern have been identified by Saul Teichman of USPatterns.com.
As with most off-metal patterns, these were struck not as actual dies trial strikes, but instead as denominations within off-metal proof sets to sold to special interest collectors.
The obverse center and reverse legends are cherry-red, while the open fields are butter-gold. The reverse shows glimpses of sky-blue lacquer residue, and both sides exhibit hairlines.
