- I have a suggestion: What if there were a disclaimer or an entirely separate category for grading coins in OGHs and rattlers? As we all know, there has been a considerable realignment of grading standards since the launch of TPG services. Oftentimes when I get a coin in an OGH or rattler I feel like I'm playing "Guess the Holder".
Another idea that surfaced is that there could be a mode which mixes in details-graded coins, presenting a challenge to even the most talented graders. (For example, you wouldn't get full points if you called a whizzed coin cleaned.)
Were this gamemode to be added, it would make a bigger problem of the problem coins in straight-grade holders. Think PVC, corrosion, or putty haze spreading after encapsulation - but I've also seen my fair share of wrap machine damaged Morgans that would never pass today. I want to report every one I get, but I worry that my standards might be higher than whoever sees the reports (aside from not wanting to inundate them with reports). Maybe there could be a "votekick" sort of thing? Naturally, that would pose its own questions, such as how to keep trolls from voting on a coin for no reason.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing what you think of my ideas.I have a suggestion: What if there were a disclaimer or an entirely separate category for grading coins in OGHs and rattlers? - JackFitchGoldNumismatist I do think some variation of this could be interesting, perhaps a no grade test.[GoldNumismatist] I do think some variation of this could be interesting, perhaps a no grade test.

- JackFitchGood suggestion! I’ll bring it up with the team and we’ll take it into consideration. For what it’s worth, the coin shown in the post above is actually in a light blue label PCGS holder, from the era when they used circular gaskets without the prongs we see today.Good suggestion! - Post a favorite coin encountered during GTG. Here's mine. I love the orange peel surfaces.
