- Just joined this group and posting to say hello. I have found some FS varieties in my collection of raw coins and recently submitted a few to PCGS for grading.
One newly graded variety is a 1950 D MS65FB RPM FS-502 variety (1 of 3 graded examples, with 2 at MS65FB and 1 at MF66FB)

- Funny I got it pretty cheap on Great Collections and it is attributed as an RPM on the holder. It might be the best D over D in the series and the CPG isn't blessing it...or so I hear.Funny I got it pretty cheap on Great Collections and it is attributed as an RPM on the holder. - Thanks. The CPG is terribly flawed. I advised on this edition back in 2015, 8 years ago! We live in the digital age and have the internet. Variety registry sets should not be based on books that come out every 13 years. They should not be based on what ONLY the authors own. I am guessing the author did not own one of these. TPGs should be using digital resources as guides for what is included in variety registry sets, not these incomplete books. Variety Vista and sites like it are such great resources.Thanks. - How many of you have sent in new Dime varieties from the new CPG? I had most of them as I collect all Dime varieties. I just submitted a bunch for attribution to PCGS at the FUN Show.

Interesting story though… I filled out the majority of my paperwork and let the PCGS representative fill out the dollar amount totals at the bottom of the form to make sure I didn’t mess anything up because when you mess something up, it delays your order at PCGS by at least a week, or so it seems. Well, I got an email from PCGS today saying there was a problem with my order and the total estimated cost was too low, off by about $80 or so. The order was actually entered on Wednesday. Now with the holiday weekend, they might read my email next Tuesday or Wednesday and move my submission along. You just can’t make this stuff up. Edit to add… I submitted a coin to CACG at the FUN show on the same day and it has already gone through their system and been mailed back to me.I submitted five Mercury Dime Varieties, all in PCGS holders already, at Winter FUN. - Anyone aware of a DDO (and maybe DDR) 1930 variety? I’ve had this for a while but haven’t seen or heard of any others. The date is obvious, but the rest of the obverse has slight doubling too, and I think the reverse (more subtle, hard to see). What exactly do I have? - Heres a helpful illustration to tell the difference between machine doubling and hub doubling. Notice how machine doubling "steals" metal from the initial strike to create the dounling effect.Heres a helpful illustration to tell the difference between machine doubling and hub doubling.
