- If a coin gets a point value when they are added to your collection, could that value be displayed in the coin information in your inventory? Can there be a query that one could type in "1884-CC MS64PL" an see the point value? If a coin gets a point value when they are added to your collection, could that value be displayed in the coin information in your inventory? - JFVanBurenIII As Winesteven mentioned we don’t give points on the coin, it is different in each set. Our point system is different than the others as PCGS has a more linear point system and NGC seems exponential. We tried to fall more in between. We do want (and need) to implement a What If type system here so users can see the point differences. It has been on our to do list for a while. We don’t carry points with the coin as some coins are worth different in different sets. Most the time they will have similar points but date sets are where you may see different points.[JFVanBurenIII] As [Winesteven] mentioned we don’t give points on the coin, it is different in each set. - Should there be a way to create custom sets sized and label to a person goal. As of now there are only box of 20 or forty to set up a a goal ... what if someone wanted an odd number for a collecting goal? meaning that could identify a slot name and count to fit the goal ... otherwise when they reach 100% but less than 20 they show the wrong percent complete. Example ... a 19th century proof or MINT set might only be 12 or 14 coins ... not 20 coinsShould there be a way to create custom sets sized and label to a person goal. - A rarely given plus grade you can trust. They should be rare. Gradeflation is a cancer, if you think your stickered coin is a plus send it for consideration. I believe you can specify minum grade. Eventually like high grade non stickers PCGS coins, that we assume by this point failed to sticker as they would be worth more, so it will be considered with a stickered plus coin not in a “CAC” holder with a plus grade. Sorry CAC and their stringent grading are doing the hobby a favor. They are protecting and enhancing value, trust and keeping people from overpaying for things like a plus grade ad a star. Soon people will be telling dealers yeah I’ll buy you stickered coin for plus grade money if you send it to CAC grading for crossover.A rarely given plus grade you can trust. They should be rare. - Zach150 My guess for the reason for your observation is many plus graded coins are "deep" in client collections. Roughly half of my coins eligible for a plus grade have the plus (about half of those were bought with the plus, roughly the other half obtained the plus via Reconsideration). Keep in mind grades 61, 69 and 70 are ineligible for plus grades. I occasionally sell a plus graded coin if I happen to buy an upgrade, otherwise, they'll only get on the market when I sell (if I'm alive, that will be during 2030, when I sell my entire collection).[Zach150] My guess for the reason for your observation is many plus graded coins are "deep" in client collections. - Winesteven that and since all the coins are one that have come through great collections, (at least my understanding of the game) and that they get more high quality coins than I’m seeing at the shows in general regular high grade or plus grade[Winesteven] that and since all the coins are one that have come through great collections, (at least my understanding of the game) and that they get more high quality coins than I’m seeing at the shows in general regular high grade or plus grade
- Zach150 There are some dealers that deal in mostly high-end coins. Mikes Coin Chest and Tangible Investments are 2, Barry Stuppler always has quality... I can't buy anything but they are great to drool over.[Zach150] There are some dealers that deal in mostly high-end coins. - Todd, thank you so much for the quick response, on a Sunday no less. I'm already liking this forum site more than " the other one " I'm just trying to figure out what I need to move up a spot in the rankings. If possible could I ask the point difference between a PCGS coin and a PCGS with a green CAC ? If you can't say that's fine. - Clarifying my previous post. As a long time PCGS Registry member but new to My Collect, I'm trying to learn. I see that I wasn't clear on my question regarding point values. As a collector for 62 years I am aware of the whole PCGS vs CAC stickers vs CACG dynamic. Yea I'll throw NGC in there too.
What I was wanting to know, and I obviously did not convey in my previous post,
In regards to the My Collect Registry. I was looking at my sets and noticed I had a higher average grade in a particular set but was ranked lower. Then I saw that my point total was lower. That spurred me to ask the question ( I believe it was Todd who answered ) How can that be ? Obviously I wasn't thinking about CAC or CACG. I was told CAC stickered coins had an added point value. I'll insert here that all my coins in " My Set " are PCGS. I do have other TPG sets, just not entered here. So my questions are, How many points are added for a CAC sticker ? Are points higher for a CACG coin vs PCGS coin ? Lower for an NGC coin ? Are points added different for green vs gold ? Are the extra points added the same for every coin regardless of rarity ?
I appreciate all the comments on my previous post as I did learn a couple things. Please bear with me as I learn this new format.

A coin may be 1000 points in one set and 800 or 1200 in another. I have an 1886-O PCGS CAC Morgan, it is a tough coin. It has great points in the Morgan PL set, but in the Morgan date set it is not used as a 1886 64 DMPL has more points. This is because for the slot, it takes 1886, 1886-O, 1886-S, the 1886 is very common so the weight for the slot is very low.Points are given per set, not by coin. - I am trying answer more of your points, PCGS CAC gold is the highest, then NCG CAC GOLD, PCGS Green CAC. NGC Green CAC, PCGS , and so on.I am trying answer more of your points, PCGS CAC gold is the highest, then NCG CAC GOLD, PCGS Green CAC. NGC Green CAC, PCGS , and so on.
- You might have been looking at a set I saw on the leaderboard near one of your sets where they average higher grades but are all NGC coins and yours were PCGS. - ToddPollock Actually I was looking at my 32-64 Wash. circ. strikes set compared to JHF's beautiful set, where my ave.grade is .12 higher but he is about 450 points ahead. Per our previous discussion, that is when you informed me of the CAC bonus points. - This is from the MyCollect Registry FAQ, but it doesn’t fully answer your question by revealing the specific weightings mentioned in number 2. Perhaps ToddPollock can clarify.
“ Sets are ranked on their total points, which is a sum of points awarded to each allocated coin in the set. To be eligible for the Current Leaderboard the set must be "Public", and also have the "Allow Raw" option set off - which are the default settings for new sets. Sets that are not eligible will still receive a virtual ranking so you can see how they would rank if they were eligible.
To calculate the points awarded to each allocated coin:
1. Start with the base points determined by the coin grade. This is not a linear function, instead higher grades have much higher base points over a lower grade to represent the rarity.
2. Multiply by a Grading Service weighting. There are different weightings for PCGS, CACG, NGC/NGCX, ANACS, and ICG. For PCGS and NGC there are variations for coins with CAC Green or CAC Gold stickers. Details coins have a separate weighting irrespective of the grading service. This weighting is to represent the relative value placed on coins in the marketplace, it is a simple fact that some coins afford a higher premium over others solely based on who graded it and whether it has a CAC sticker.
3. Multiply by the Item weight defined in the Set Definition. This is used to represent the comparative difficulty of filling this item compared to other items in the set.
Multiply by any optional suffix bonus weights if applicable”This is from the MyCollect Registry FAQ, but it doesn’t fully answer your question by revealing the specific weightings mentioned in number 2.
