An important spot graders check on These dimes is that that torch on the reverse, there's supposed to be bar's wrapping around this, clearly on your dime unfortunately they have demenished do to having been heavily circulated

Are you interested in looking for error coins? Mint errors are exciting and many people started collecting coins looking for mint errors! There are several books specifically about mint errors for USA coins. The Red Book has a brief section. It describes many of the common errors and what to look for. Keep in mind, errors are not to be confused with Die Varieties. Each coin is made with a specific die so minor (and some major) differences are noticed by collectors. Some are extremely rare, and/or desirable, and add a very strong premium. Red Book varieties are the most collected but not all important varieties are listed in the Red Book. Most 20th century and newer US coins have hundreds, if not, thousands of die pairings. Even Morgan Dollars have 100+ VAM's for many of the dates (VAM is the name given to Morgan dollar die varieties). Die varieties are heavily collected, vs errors which are also collected but not as large of a group of collectors. There is a really cool series of books called Cherrypickers which focused on die varieties that have a solid premium over the standard minted coin but some are out of print and are hard to get. You can find many of these books at the library or Amazon. Its best to start with a Red Book and then go from there, based on your interests in the hobby and what type of coins you would like to collect. My interests started with errors and varieties as a young collector almost 40 years ago. Very fun part of the hobby!

Is that an S mintmark? This is a better date, esp with an S mintmark. No clue how spot price is affecting premium on a better date like this, tho, esp as it is not a higher grade, but i still would think it might sell for higher than common dates, as an album hole filler for the date/mintmark, a tougher spot to fill. The very high spot price definitely interrupts premium tho, so i don't have price guidance otherwise..

I would like to know if Peace and Morgan dollars are calculated the same way all other Constitutional silver coins are, by their "face value"? If so, would any Peace dollar, even cull ones, be 15 percent below melt value? I am still learning the proper way to add them up, but I would guess the value of this coin would be around $60.00 as the silver spot price today is $72.00

Ah, a little mechanical doubling I see. No additional premium so it's worth face value but it is a cool coin. Put it in your quarter album but I wouldn't pay for grading for something like this.
