  • Collector premium vanishing on graded bullion. Buy at basically melt. Going to drive away numismatic interest in these. Only opportunity in the future is a lot melted and not many graded as the fees are a cost that won’t be recoverable for awhile. True Numismatics on the high end less affected, but entry level everywhere going to be a lot of money. May just fill some albums with avg circ ingraded stuff at close to melt while I see where this is going.

Great for what I already have. Lol

  • Ok, saw this on CAC site. “ To this end, we have set out to apply the same stringent standards used originally in our Stickering service across all the coins we are now Grading, including our modern coins.”

CAC price guide gives same value for grade for both stickered and CaC graded coins.

So if using same standards, then why doesn’t a CACG, NGC /CAC stickered coin get the same points as a PCGS stickered coin? If you trust their opinion on another service slab coin, then why not their own slabbed or NGC. This thought process creates doubt on CAC accuracy. The “market” theory is valid PCGS versus NGC, stickered etc selling for more. However, CACG coins overwhelmingly sell for more than PCGS. This continues to perplex me. I know some disagree, and I respect that. Some disagree because it would hurt their registry standing to recognize this new reality as well. Just my thoughts, I mean if CAC says a PcGS is top tier 66. Then an NGC stickered and cash should get same points or just stop giving points for CAC in any form. Then the sticker would only mean anything to those that value it. We need fairness and consistency. This is the most inclusive registry, and following prices for grades is fine, but the whole CAC thing needs to be standardized and fair. We need to stop picking winners and losers in a biased fashion that protects certain individual collectors choices. With respects, just my thoughts.

  • Ok, so I’m going to move my coins to CACG. All of them stickered or not. This is just me, and I’m not telling anyone what they should do.

    Considering the following facts:

    1. No coin is considered A or B solid for the grade unless CAC stickers it.
    2. + grades are not evaluated by stickering
    3. CACG states they use the same stringent standards for their graded slabs as stickering
    4. PCGS/CAC gets more registry points than NGC/CAC or CACG here in MYCOLLECT (Other registries also favor coins they graded, but MYCollect does not grade and are the most inclusive of the registries. However PCGS/CAC gets most points and CACG snd PCGS are treated as equal. This is often stated as being because of final sales figures. Again CACG routinely sells for more than PCGS and should receive more points in fairness)
    5. The “L” Legacy notion will signify that either NGC or PCGS also agreed (PCGS/CAC and NGC/CAC should be equal. If talking about Sales price that’s CACG slabs should get same points as PCGS/CAC as they sell for about the same and have same price on CAC price guide. They definitely sell for much more than PCGs or NGC without stickering)
    6. At least CACG will be given equal footing in CAC registry with PCGS/CAC and NGC/CAC are all treated equal in points. (Why not since we have all basically said they determine what is solid for the grade)
    7. All CAC stocked coins will be considered for a plus grade from CAC automatically. (That is a plus grade that is rarely given and can be counted on)

In closing I may have some down grades ( maybe a rare upgrade or + grade), but I can be assured that it is has met the tightest most stringent grading possible by a human, and that my grades are not inflated.

I can also be assured of very high resale if needed. This based on my real World Consignments, 3 so far to GreatCollections (I also have bought coins from them). I have gotten great prices on all coins including sn ICG coin. A total of 120 coins were submitted. The process was smooth and flawless. Customer service was more than could be dreamed of. Price realized we’re 70% ofCAC price guide and 80% of PCGS price guide on average. Very happy with this and will continue to use for selling coins, beats eBay all yo hell snd is a turn key operation!!

I did notice that my CACG coins sold for significantly more than my PCGS and of course NGC Coins.

Now I just have to wait for CACG to grade World coins snd I can crossover my Sovereigns, Australians snd Canada Bullion coins and have a set that I am proud of .

CACG coins a grade lower on both numismatic and graded bullion usually sell for at or above PCGS graded coins a level higher. Equal level ex ms 65 CACG consistently sells for more.

This is based on my real World sales as noted above and extensive research on sold prices on eBay and GreatCollections.

Also will allow me to have a high valued, collection in holders that are all the same.

I love MYCollect and GreatCollections is the best. I keep a sheet filled out with my coins so if something happens the wife can sell and get a great price hassle free. Thanks Ian and Todd!!!

Rant over and done. I’m home sick with another round of Covid!! lol

  • I've just acquired this 1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar PCGS MS-65. Ok, start my expensive experiment of moving coins to CACG regardless of grading service or green bean. This is PCGS MS65. Get a sticker? Nope. No middle man needed. I can send and get the definitive grade from the Grader with the most stringent Criteria. So is it really a 65? 64? 63? We will see I will post results of this and others that I submit. Already joined the grading club. Don’t want to go around with a date some one says is a 10 that is really a 9. If it comes back lower I can accept it as a solid grade or feel good about selling it as a Solid 64, and get a CACG 65.

Next up My Morgan PCGS/CAC green MS65 DMPL.

  • Any update on being able to make a truly custom set? Some of my ideas would be niche and burdensome for someone else to create? Thanks!!
