I have emailed my local California State Senator Steve C. Padilla-DEM for direction about starting the process to introduce and pass legislation making it a crime in CA for anyone to knowingly sell fake precious metals, and coins of any type that are not of and for a didactic purpose. Also, caveat emptor can not be used as a lame defense if caught.
In my coin shop, once a month, a person of ill intent tries to knowingly (meaning I have already been informed by local cash for gold dealers) sell Marc One fake gold for cash or trade fake gold for real gold in my store. Every 6 months we see a fake slab.
In my opinion, there needs to be regulation curbing this pervasive theft behavior. A first time a fine should start at US $10,000. with a percentage going to your local Police department.
