  • 1912 s United States Philippines Peso
    Key Date 680,000
Small type it is said less than 10% of original mintage survives and 5% in original condition through all grades.
This is just as much a US issue as any,and is the only coin with Dual Country's appearing at the same time on a coin.
Many were melted, and, also dumped into the Manila bay so that the Imperial Japanese Army couldn't get them to use towards the funding of WW2 efforts.
This i estimate is xf/au with original lustre remaining.
Many many coins were cleaned by the locals mostly because they didn't like "Shiny" coins.
Very interesting history surrounds this series, one in particular of the famed numismatist Farran Zerbe in 1904 for the World Fair.
I think a USPI piece should be in any US collection as well as in any collection.
But that is just my opinion

Likely xf. Assume cleaned long ago.
Many times grade weight is from the reverse on these. Weak flat struck as well and sometimes crude with lots of planchet flaws.
