- i went to my coin dealer today and showed him a 1928 p peace dollar that i thought was definitely AU, but he told me it was XF 45 even though it had a nice cartwheel and original mint luster, and very little wear on the high points.i went to my coin dealer today and showed him a 1928 p peace dollar that i thought was definitely AU, but he told me it was XF 45 even though it had a nice cartwheel and original mint luster, and very little wear on the high points.12 Comments 0 Shares 3170 ViewsPlease log in to like, share and comment!Commenting is disabled.
- ToddPollockThe last thing you want is a dealer saying it is a 55-shot 58 and it comes back 45. Glad he stayed on the conservative side instead of giving false hope. The last thing you want is a dealer saying it is a 55-shot 58 and it comes back 45. - SRC_NebraskaIt's a details grade because of the scratch. I would say it's an AU coin. Maybe he was net grading it down. It's a details grade because of the scratch. I would say it's an AU coin. Maybe he was net grading it down.

- Lemonlord1915barberhalfdollar I can see why the dealer put it lower. There is a fair amount of scratching on the fields and it is a little worn out on the high points.[1915barberhalfdollar] I can see why the dealer put it lower. - Westin1915barberhalfdollar Certainly a technical AU. Like a 55 or maybe 58 but there is that really noticable scratch on the cheek and the ones on the neck. The problem is that if it gets a details grade for that, it's probably worth around XF money, so the offer seems fair considering it's a gamble on it straight grading.[1915barberhalfdollar] Certainly a technical AU.
